Halcyons handmade classic motorcycle goggle/ classic aviator enthusiast goggles!
  • Ultimate comfort – With high quality soft leather hand stitched over comfortable padded foam, the Halcyon goggles mask moulds perfectly to the contours of your face providing the best possible comfort even on the longest of journeys.
  • Anti-Misting – The goggle frames have 4 small louvers punched into the metal with the opening facing away from the direction of travel. This allows just enough airflow behind the lens to prevent misting, but not enough to cause irritation to the eyes when travelling at speed or in cold weather conditions.
  • Classic British Style- The look of Halcyon goggle has remained the same for over 70 years, as first worn by RAF pilots during WWII. Moving through the ages the traditional goggle style has continued to be a unique and fashionable whether you are a Classic Motorcyclist, an open top vintage car owner, a Mod with an old Lambretta or Vespa or even a Steampunk enthusiast.
  • Unique Features - Over the years Halcyon have introduced some additional features to our Traditional Mark 49 Goggle:
  • Redesigned Headband Clips –To allow the goggles to be worn over open face crash helmets while maintaining a close fit to the face.
  • Non-Slip Headband- 3 silicone beads travel around the inside of the elasticated headband to ensure the goggles remain in place against the surface of a motorcycle helmet or when worn over a traditional leather driving helmet or pilot headgear.
  • Adjustable Nose screw – A high quality stainless steel threaded screw between the eye frames allow for fine adjustment for the perfect comfort
    • Made to Last a Lifetime – Most modern goggles and eyewear are mass produced using plastic moulded components, this is even the case with other traditional style goggles. Halcyon goggles are different, they are made using the same materials and manufacturing techniques that were first used 70 years ago, with dozens of individual operations to take a solid sheet of brass and refine it into the finished product. A considerable amount of time and care is spent on manufacturing a Halcyon goggle all of which is done within our factory in Hertfordshire, England. You will not find a single piece of plastic on our Mark 49 goggles, only chrome plated brass, stainless steel and real leather – materials designed to last a lifetime.

    Customer Feedback:

On Comfort “Now these are "proper" goggles. The soft, supple black leather feels comfortable enough to wear for hours!”- J.P

“I got these Halcyons and the very next day had a PGR mission that was a good 60 miles one way from the house and it was cold, didn't warm up like the weather idiot said it would. The goggles sealed fantastically. There was no 'vents' that I had to cover with little pieces of duct tape to keep too much air/cold air from getting in them and making my eyes water. They were also *comfortable*! The padding in the soft leather was really, really nice!” –T.S

On Style- “Let me first say: these are excellent goggles: comfortable, safe, effective, stylish. Then there is the social aspect. These goggles attract attention! I ride round the world with these goggles - India, Pakistan, Nepal, Iran, Cambodia, Vietnam, Lao, Thailand, Oz, Myanmar.....OK, so I am showing off - but it's true, and every place I went, these goggles were a show stopper.” –P.L

On Durability - “There is no other classic motorcycle goggle that comes close to the quality of the Halcyon goggle, I have owned 3 pairs over the last 40 years (yes I'm that old) and other than replacing the headbands and occasionally the lenses they are still as good today as when I bought them.” –R.A

Needed the Mark 49 in Black leather to use as goggles for windy conditions when driving my Black 1962 289 Superformance Slabside Cobra.
Best thing I did, I know I am a ham and a bit of showoff at times but what fun.
When you pull into a car show wearing these beauties, it draws so much attention that it must be illegal.
Get a pair, life is too short. (Posted on 04/08/2017)

They look great - more substantial than I was expecting. The nose adjusters work well making a snug fit.
Got them for my chap to use as protection in the shed so can't comment on how well they work in the wind! (Posted on 03/10/2013)

Comfortable, effective and aesthetically pleasing. Good value for money. Don't expect glass lenses unless you specify but plastic ones are good. (Posted on 03/10/2013)

All technology comes with a social aspect, and this is probably more true of motorbike goggles than many other things.
Let me first say: these are excellent goggles: comfortable, safe, effective, stylish.
Then there is the social aspect. These goggles attract attention!
I ride round the world with these goggles - India, Pakistan, Nepal, Iran, Cambodia, VietNam, Lao, Thailand, Oz, Myanmar.....OK, so I am showing off - but it's true, and every place I went, these goggles were a show stopper.
And before you young guys start thinking the scene is all yours: I am 62, I ride Harleys, Enfields, BMWs, vintage stuff - and EVERYWHERE, despite my senility, I get admiring glances and questions about my goggles.
My current standard response is: 'Biggles, Captain, RAF retired, and what is YOUR name?'
You probably have to be over 50 to get the joke - but in any case, these are great goggles!

This is what I think about them so far (used them twice now, in the cold, which was basically what I wanted them for)...

They're the Halcyon model Mark 9 Vintage. I'd tried other large-like goggles to cover the eye opening hole in the Schampa balaclava I wear in the winter, to keep the cold wind from entering and making my eyes water and parts of my face freeze and hurt.

Nothing was 'sealing' very well and I was suffering and was really beginning to hate riding in the winter.

I got these Halcyons and the very next day had a PGR mission that was a good 60 miles one way from the house and it was cold, didn't warm up like the weather idiot said it would. The goggles sealed fantastically. There was no 'vents' that I had to cover with little pieces of duct tape to keep too much air/cold air from getting in them and making my eyes water. They were also *comfortable*! The padding in the soft leather was really, really nice!

I personally didn't have any problem with them being too big and interfering with the way my half-helmet sat on my head. According to them, it does bother enough people that Halcyoin makes a 'smaller' profile goggle for those with that problem.

So far, I'm extremely happy with them. I haven't had the chance to wear them in rain or with the tinted lenses I ordered with them. Once I do wear them in sun and rain, I'll write that up too.

They offer laminated glass or a damn fine, clear polycarbonate. The plastic is very clear, but you can still see a tiny (very tiny!) amount of blur in little areas of the lenses. Not enough to bother anything or make riding unsafe, but it's there if you look close. If you're not paying attention, you won't see that kind of thing. I'll eventually get the glass, simply because I feel it's just going to be better in the long run, since glass doesn't scratch like plastic will. (Posted on 15/02/2013)

(Posted on 15/02/2013)

Beautifully made from soft leather stiched to nicely Chrome plated frames and with real glass lenses (an optional extra) these goggles fit beautifully and give a very authentic 40's look. The quick release lens retainer is a nice touch as is the rubberised back of the strap which stops the goggles from riding up on a crash helmet.Highly recommended. (Posted on 13/11/2012)
Proper GogglesReview by J/P

Now these are "proper" goggles. The soft, supple black leather feels comfortable enough to wear for hours, either on your motorcycle or (I can only imagine) in the cockpit. Styled on the 1940's RAF design, these are not WWII replicas. Apparently Halcyon make those if that's what you need; ask for brown leather WWII RAF blue painted brass, PN 13-05860. As you might guess, original RAF goggles from the 1940's can sell for several hundreds of pounds nowadays. It's quite a saving, considering these are of such high quality.

On the box it says, "3mm thick replacement lenses are fitted, either in laminated glass tested to BS 4110 OR in moulded and coated polycarbonate tested to BS EN138." These ones have BS 4110 stamped on the chrome-plated brass, so be aware that these are glass. Yes, glass and brass. I believe it is possible to have custom prescription lenses fitted if so desired.

One last thing to know before buying MK49's; the different colours available. I think the chrome and black looks the best but you might prefer antique brown (or possibly the white leather if your name is Penelope Pitstop). (Posted on 13/11/2012)
