Product Description
Unlike many other goggles on the market that are mass-produced using molded plastic for the frames, Halcyon Mark 49 goggle frames continue to be made in brass which is then hand-polished to a mirror-finish before being chrome-plated. The frames are hand-stitched to a quality padded black leather facemask.
The goggles’ elasticated headband has enough adjustment to allow them to fit over or under an open-face crash helmet, and the unique attachment clips allow the goggles to fit comfortably against the face, even when worn over a crash helmet, making them an ideal goggle to wear when riding a classic motorcycle.
The goggles come with UV-protected scratch-resistant polycarbonate lenses. Each lens is housed in an independent frame which can be easily removed from the goggle to allow replacements to be fitted. Optional upgrades are available, such as laminated glass, which is very popular for aviation purposes, or tinted lenses, which are useful in sunny conditions. The glass lenses can also be taken to your local opticians to have prescription lenses bonded to the inner surface.
The head band now also comes fitted with triple silicon, elasticated non-slip strips for the perfect grip when worn over an open face crash helmet.

best goggles around
Bought a pair of these about 15 years ago!!! They are great, and easy to clear of rain etc because of the flat lense surface!!..The laminated glass has been durable & scratch resistant, and distortion free!!! I love them so much I bought a second pair, as backup in case of loss or damage...would hate to wear anything else! Finally using the new ones, as the stitching needs repair on originals!..and elastic getting slack,,,the lenses & frames are as good as when bought!
Used at night or if raining, while Raybans are the gear for sunny/dry days!!
I say the same thing about Halcyon, as I do about Rayban : If you spent money on anything else, you have change coming!!...your mistake!!

Beautifully made from soft leather stiched to nicely Chrome plated frames and with real glass lenses (an optional extra) these goggles fit beautifully and give a very authentic 40's look. The quick release lens retainer is a nice touch as is the rubberised back of the strap which stops the goggles from riding up on a crash helmet.Highly recommended.

I had the old version for a couple of years now and they've been great. I bought the 'BoB' reproduction about a month ago and I can only say I am very happy with them. I am using these goggles flying my open-cockpit biplane. They are superb and really stylish, they look the part and they are very practical. They're sturdy, they fold up and they are far less bulky than modern goggles.
A few pieces of advice: the polycarbonate lenses are probably safer and certainly cheaper, but I'd go for the laminated glass as it's a far more scratch-resistant. Also, you can wear some types of sunglasses underneath these, but it's probably better to buy spare tinted lenses as they're very easy to swap.Posted on 04/01/2012 by Superb

I've had these goggles for two years. Excellent! The only suggestion I have is that since the lenses are easy to remove, order a set of tinted lenses to go with your clear ones.
I ride open faced with a skull cap.Posted on 04/01/2012 by highly recommended
