Omnico 947 Clamp-on Oblong Overtaker Mirror

Rectangular Classic clamp-on car mirror (115mm x 73mm). The over-taking mirror features a highly polished stainless steel head, fitted with flat glass for clear visibility. It mounts securely to the quarter light (vent window) frame using an adjustable stainless steel bracket complete with clamp screws – no drilling required. A faithful reproduction of the iconic original Stadium model, it’s built to last with rust-resistant construction and can be fitted on either the left or right side of the vehicle (Universal fitment).

Why use flat glass?

Many British classic cars from the 1950s–1970s originally came with flat glass mirrors as standard. Convex mirrors were not as widespread on classic cars until much later. Convex designs emphasised wider fields of view. Enthusiasts restoring or maintaining cars want everything to match the factory original – including flat glass – to preserve the vehicle’s authenticity and value. A faithful reproduction like this clamp-on mirror uses flat glass to stay true to that era.

Omnico 950 Clamp-on 105mm Round Polished Stainless Steel Mirror

105mm highly polished stainless steel exterior mirror with a round head and convex glass. The clip-on base included clamp and screws and is made from stainless steel. Suitable for left or right side.

Why Convex Glass in Classic Cars?

Convex mirrors bulge outward, providing a wider field of view to reduce blind spots – very useful on older cars with limited visibility.

Many original classic car mirrors came with convex glass from the factory, particularly in the 1950s-1970s era.
Owners often upgrade from flat glass to convex for better rearward visibility.
The curvature makes objects appear smaller and farther away, which is why many include the etched warning “Objects in mirror are closer than they appear”.

Flat glass gives a true-size, undistorted view but a narrower field; convex expands it but distorts distance perception.

Got it for my Austin Seven and it's easy to attach and works well.

Where to fit the classic car mirror

Omnico Raydyot Grand Prix-style Exterior Racing Mirror – Satin Black Alloy 319BF

“Grand Prix” style racing bullet mirror. This is a reproduction of the “Raydyot” model, popular with Cobras and many 50’s and 60’s classic sports cars. With racing in mind, this lightweight bullet mirror is free from vibration.

Raydyot style mirror can be used on Morris Garages (MG’s), Austin-Healeys, Rochdale and many others. This classic mirror was sold by various manufacturers and distributors between the 1950 and 1960s.
