Bobster Sports Goggles Set

I’m reviewing something different – Bugeye-type Bobster sports goggles! These goggles feature rounded, matte-black polycarbonate frames and come with three interchangeable sets of lenses. Switching lenses is effortless, as they simply pop in and out of the frames. The included free carry case conveniently stores the clear, tinted, and amber lenses, keeping them safe and organized.

Each lens provides 100% UVA protection, ensuring your eyes are shielded from the sun’s harmful rays, and they’re also RX-ready, allowing prescription lenses to be fitted. In this review, I’ll cover all the accessories that come with these goggles – read on to find out more!

Bobster Sports Goggles in Box
“I purchased these goggles without knowing exactly what to expect, but I wanted something versatile enough for both nighttime and sunny rides. Upon opening the box, I was initially concerned, as they didn’t seem very robust. So far, they haven’t fogged up, and the lenses provide a clear view in any lighting. The lenses are easy to swap, which is perfect for transitioning from day to night riding. Overall, for the price, I’m impressed with the value and would happily recommend them.”

First impressions: What’s in the box?

Opening the free carry case, I was impressed with how neatly the accessories were packaged – each item was sealed in a clear bag to prevent scratches. The case securely holds all the lenses, keeping them safe and organized. However, when I tried to store everything, including the goggles, inside the case, it was a very tight fit, which I wouldn’t necessarily recommend. It seems Bobster designed the carry case primarily for spare parts, as the goggles are intended to be worn around the neck or paired with an open-faced helmet.

Sports goggles Out of the box

I decided to test all the lens options, starting with the amber lenses, as I suspected they’d be my least favourite. Personally, I prefer the classic clear or tinted lenses. As expected, the amber lenses cast everything in a warm amber-orange hue, which wasn’t to my taste. I placed them back in their clear packaging, where they’ll likely remain unused.

Speaking of tinted lenses, Bobster refers to them as “smoked,” and I can see why—they provide a much darker tint than expected, making them unsuitable for nighttime use. Compared to Halcyon’s lightly tinted lenses, these are significantly darker, offering excellent protection for bright, sunny conditions.

Free carry case

The free carry case was a pleasant surprise! I had expected a simple, disposable storage bag. It features a plastic locking mechanism that allows you to clip it onto your waistband, or you can thread your belt through the sturdy straps on the back. The material used provides excellent impact resistance and waterproof protection to keep your goggles and accessories safe on the go.

Lifetime Warranty

Bobster sports goggles warranty

After a bit of research, I discovered that Bobster offers an impressive lifetime warranty for their products. By visiting their Warranty page, you can arrange for replacements or repairs for any manufacturing defects. While most companies limit their warranties to just 30 days, Bobster’s lifetime policy is a standout feature – pretty neat!

Orange Lenses

A close-up shot of the standout feature on these bug-eyed Bobster sports goggles showcases the small, easily removable left & right-sided lenses. Popping the lenses out of the frames was surprisingly satisfying, making it effortless to swap them on the go. Additionally, the soft closed-cell foam padding feels incredibly comfortable against the face, adding to the overall enjoyment of wearing these goggles.

Foam padding around lenses

Bobster goggles feature soft and squishy closed-cell foam frames, a durable material known for its low moisture absorption. This makes them ideal for all weather conditions, whether it’s rain or sweat from intense activities. Out of the three frame types offered by Bobster, open-cell, closed-cell, and neoprene. The closed-cell foam stands out as the longest-lasting option, offering superior protection and durability.

FAQ

Kris says:

Do these not come with the spectacle glasses frames for opticians like the Bobster Spektrax goggles?

Halcyon says:

Nope, these bug-eyed goggles do not come with the spectacle frames for inserting prescription lenses. I would recommend sticking with Spektrax for that feature. : )

Anon says:

RX Ready? Does this mean they will fit over my glasses?

Halcyon says:

No, RX Ready means you can take the goggles to your local opticians to fit a prescription lens inside the frames, hope this helps. : )

Anon says:

Can these sports goggles fit inside open-faced helmets? Thank you.

Halcyon says:

I tried this out and they are compact enough to fit comfortably underneath and over the top of helmets. Please make sure you secure the headband to your motorcycle helmet though, as these do not have a silicone lining for extra grip when worn over helmets.

Anon says:

Will you review other Bobster goggles? I want to see what you think about the Night Hawk goggles that fit over the top of glasses, thanks.

Halcyon says:

I will ask Bobster for a Night Hawk soon, in the meantime I’m going to review the Spektrax motorcycle goggles/ sunglasses next. : )

Anon says:

Great review! A++

Halcyon says:

Thank you, stay tuned for more reviews, I will be doing more Bobster goggle reviews and I will be getting an Italian Nannini goggle soon! : )

Dan says:

Thanks for the review, I was looking for eye wear like this to use as motocross goggles, will be trying them out. : )

Halcyon says:

Let me know how that goes, I know these can be used for Motorcycles, but I’m not sure about motocross though! Keep me updated.
