Brass framed goggles made with an inclusive angle of 135 degree offering a wider range of vision than the single pane flat or convex lens were first introduced by the Royal Air Force in the late nineteen twenties.
In addition they were stronger and much more durable than the Perspex type lens which could fracture when struck by an object or during a collision.

Many open top motor car drivers , motor cyclists and of course RAF fliers adopted these preferred eye protectors.

Polycarbonate lenses became available with the development of plastics and are widely used now but we are able to offer polycarbonate or glass lenses in our range of Mark 49 goggles for the discerning enthusiast .

All of our Mark goggles are manufactured at our factory in Hertford where we carry out thirteen different stamping and pressing stages to make the frames and a further fifteen operations are required to produce ancillary items ,lens holders , air ventilation and adjustment components , headband straps and the final plating or painting processes.
